 Winter Storm Leo dropped 15 inches of snow in Holt County on Tuesday. Check out these photos showing the aftermath.  According to the National Weather Service, a light mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected to spread over Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa during the day on Sunday, with the heaviest precipitation expected Sunday night in Monday.
The National Weather Service expects the highest ice accumulations south of interstate 80 where there is a potential for a quarter inch or more of ice accumulation. Areas farther north are likely to see more sleet and snow and less icing. Sleet accumulation of one to three inches are possible in far Northeast Nebraska, according to the storm watch. Hazardous travel due to icy or snow-packed roads is likely. Sidewalks and parking lots will be very slippery as well. Some damage to tree limbs and power outages are possible. Precautionary and preparedness actions are recommended. A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts and look back for updates.   Holt County will be in a winter storm watch from Friday at 6 a.m. to Saturday at noon.
Snow will develop Friday morning over Sheridan and Cherry counties and spread south and east through Saturday morning. Snow accumulations of four to six inches of snow is possible, and north winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts fo 30 mph are expected. The National Weather Service is warning residents of frigid wind chills which could cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin. A combination of snow and strong winds will also make driving conditions across northern Nebraska dangerous. A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice. Friday is looking at a high of 23 degrees and low of 10, with a 80% chance of PM snow showers. Saturday's chance of snow will go up to 60%, with less than an inch expected. The high will be 31 and low 20. Sunday will be partly cloudy, with a high of 26 and low of 17. There is only a 10% chance of snow.   Residents are encouraged to enjoy the nice weekend weather, because immediately following the weekend, Holt County is expecting a significant drop in temperatures.
From Monday to Wednesday, temperatures will drop over 30 degrees in only two days. Throughout the weekend, the weather will warm up, with mostly cloudy skies on Saturday and a high of 43 and low of 28. Sunday will be a sunny day, with an even warmer high of 47 and low of 33. Expect to see the weather start dropping on Tuesday, with the high going down to 21 degrees and then to 14 on Wednesday. Although the temperatures will drop, the county is only forecasted for a 30% chance of AM snow showers on Wednesday, with less than an inch of snow expected.   Winter has officially hit Holt County, but there are still some sunny days expected throughout Thanksgiving weekend.
Thursday's high is 42 with a low of 27. It will be mostly cloudy with wind, but only a 10% chance of rain. The sun will come out on Friday, warming up the day. The high will be 53 and the low 30 with a 0% chance or rain. Saturday will be another beautiful sunny day, with no rain expected and high of 58 and low 30. Sunday will be the only wet day of the weekend, with a 70% chance of rain in the afternoon, a high of 51 and low of 31. It'll be a great weekend for eating and watching football, and don't miss out on the sunny, warmer days!   Although it looks like the 70 degree weekends have come to an end, Holt County still has sunny fall days to look forward to before winter hits.
This weekend, residents can expect the sun to shine all throughout the weekend. The high today is 54 with a low of 33. Saturday will see a high of 62 and low of 41. Sunday will be the warmest day of the weekend, with a high of 68 and low of 36.   It looks like Holt County will have the last of 70-degree days this weekend.
Today's high will be 74 with a low of 44 and sunny skies. Saturday will be sunny, with a high of 74 and low of 49. Sunday's high will dip to 68, with a low of 50 and partly cloudy skies. The county isn't expecting any precipitation this weekend, although there is a 20% chance on Sunday.   It'll be a great weekend for Halloween and fall celebrations in Holt County.
It's partly cloudy today, with a high of 82 and low of 51. The high on Saturday will be 57, with a low of 37 and cloudy skies. Sunday will be partly cloudy with a high of 63 and low of 53. It'll be a great time to get out and enjoy the last of the nice weather!  Holt County is expecting sunny fall weather this weekend.
A low of 40 degrees is expected today, with the lowest temperatures coming in around midnight. Saturday will be sunny, with a high of 74 and low of 45, and perfect for playing in the leaves. Sunday will also be sunny with clear skies. The high will be 63 and the low 39. |
