Strong Finish For Area Linkers Ahead Of Districts

With the district meet looming, several local teams took to the course for the final time before districts at Monday’s Highway 20 Invitational at the Bassett Country Club.

West Holt captured the team title with a 343. Neligh-Oakdale placed third with a 359, followed by Clearwater/Orchard in fifth with a 386, Elgin Public/Pope John in sixth with a 401, O’Neill in eighth with a 417, Niobrara/Verdigre in 10th with a 426 and Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing in 11th with a 454.

All five of the Husky golfers finished in the top-24, led by Garrison Hansen who was the medalist with a 78. Austin Wenner placed 10th with an 87, Max Roberts finished 11th with an 88, Jaxson Cadawallder came in 14th with a 90 and Jaegher Ogden was 24th with a 98.

The Warriors were led by Austin Rice’s 86, which placed him seventh. Hunter Charf took ninth with an 87, Neven Kline claimed 17th with a 92, followed by Caleb Payne in 19th with a 94 and Garret Belitz was 26th with a 98.

OC’s Gage Clifton was the top finisher for the Cyclones after placing sixth with an 85. Ryan Wilhelm was 13th with an 89, followed by Rafe Grebin and Blake Hoke each with a 106 and Tommie Peed with a 116.

Hunter Reestman paced EPPJ with a 90 to take 15th. Skylar Reestman scored a 98, Kyle Schumacher notched a 99, while Adam Dreger and Conor Ramold each carded a 114.

For the Eagles, Parker Heiss tallied a 96, Hunter Cullen shot a 106, Tommy Kaczor had a 107 and Lukas Dougherty added a 108.

Camden Eisenhauer led the Cougars with a 91 to placed 16th. Rane Vesely recorded a 99, followed by Kenny Justo’s 102 and Max Hollman’s 134.

Logan Sanford placed 20th with a 94 for CWC/E. Hunter Tracy accumulated a 114, Emily Kurpgeweit accounted for a 120 and Cauy Duba shot a 126.

Elgin Public/Pope John travels to Battle Creek for its final regular season meet Thursday at 2 p.m.

OC, CWC/E, West Holt and N/V compete at the District D-3 meet at Santee’s Tatanka Golf Club Monday at 9 a.m.

Neligh-Oakdale travel to Norfolk’s Fair Play Golf Course Monday at 9 a.m. for the District C-3 meet.

O’Neill heads to the Jackrabbit Run Golf Course in Grand Island Tuesday at 9 a.m.
