O’Neill St. Mary senior Cole Rosenkrans bounced back after yesterday’s defeat to keep his career going at the Class D state wrestling tournament Friday at Omaha’s CHI Health Center Arena.
After falling to Wisner-Pilger’s Landon Beaver in his 220-pound opening match. Rosenkrans scored a first-period pin over Anselmo-Memo and a 3-1 decision over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge’s Ethan Williams, to advance to the heartbreak round of the consolation bracket.
West Holt’s Ben Slaymaker (160) opened the day with a 7-5 decision over Koa Mcintyre of Archbishop Bergan, before falling to Maxwell’s Derek Gibson, 8-0, to end his season.
Husky heavyweight Jade Buss concluded his career with a loss to Southwest’s Bryson Shoemaker.
Rosenkrans faces Hitchcock County’s Remington Hodges tonight at 5 p.m. with a spot in the consolation semis on the line.
