O’Neill freshman Ty Rainforth kept his Class B state wrestling tournament run alive after picking up a win in the 106-pound consolation round Friday afternoon.
Rainforth bounced back after yesterday’s quarterfinal loss with a second-period fall over Wahoo’s Malachi Bordovsky.
Oscar Lopez (126), Tanner Storjohann (145) and Brady Thompson (132) each saw their seasons come to an end Friday.
Lopez scored a second-period fall over Raymond Central’s Nick Springer, before falling to Bryce Brown of Hastings.
Thompson defeated Nebraska City’s Josh Delunger, 15-2, then lost to Noah Talmadge of Ralston, 6-5.
Storjohann opened the day with a second-period pin over Plattsmouth’s Zach Nielsen, but then ended his tournament run with a loss to Raymond Central’s Easton Albrecht.
Rainforth takes on Waverly’s Trae Greve at 5 p.m. tonight in the consolation heartbreak round.
