O'Neill CC Take Top Honors

The O’Neill Cross Country Team competed at the Boone Central Individual Invitational last Friday. Among the sixteen teams competing, the Eagles took top honors against their class with team trophies awarded.

The Lady Eagles placed 3rd as a team with four medalists. Within the junior division, Whitney Watson placed 2nd with Lily Thompson following in 3rd. In the senior division, Briaunna Parks finished 3rd with Tessa Rainforth following placing 4th.

Coach Hilker explained, “The girls ran well. We made a step I the right direction. We still need to keep improving.”

As for the boy’s team, the Eagles placed 5th overall with two medaling in the division. Nathaniel Jennings won the senior division and Oscar Lopez placed 2nd in the sophomore division.

“The is the boy’s best race this season. We competed as a team and carried themselves to the end of the race,” said Hilker.

In the junior high division, the Eagles saw the girl’s team place 6th with the boy’s team finishing 7th overall. Tye Rainforth earned an individual medal at 3rd place.

This week the O’Neill Eagles will compete on at the UNK Invite on Monday and the West Holt Invite on Thursday.
