Two Holt County wrestlers are guaranteed a spot on the podium after Friday's performances at the Class D state wrestling tournament at Omaha's CHI Health Center Arena.
West Holt senior Cole Laible fell unbeaten Joel Ostrom of Burwell in the 138-pound semifinals.
O'Neill St. Mary's Cole Rosenkrans kept his season alive and secured a medal after defeating Hitchcock County's Remington Hodges in overtime.
"I knew the first match I had in the tournament I lost because I wasn't conditioned enough," Rosenkrans spoke. "I gave up because I thought I was too tired. I had enough overtime matches that I pushed through it and I know that the reward will be big."
After dropping his tournament opener, Rosenkrans rattled off three-straight wins to earn a medal at this year's tournament.
"It's simply a challenge," Rosenkrans continued. "At first you're down. You lose the next match, you're done. But to come back after that first loss in the tournament is huge."
O'Neill freshman Ty Rainforth kept his tournament run alive with a 12-4 win.
Laible and Rosenkrans return to the mats Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the consolation semis.
