West Holt senior Cole Laible brought a stellar wrestling career to an end Saturday morning after placing fifth in 138-pound Class D state wrestling tournament,
“It’s been what I’ve been working for all season,” Laible commented. “It’s not really where I wanted to end up, but I’ll take it and finished strong.”
After falling to Nebraska Christian’s Elijah Green, 3-1, in the consolation semifinals, the senior Husky bounced back with an 8-4 decision over Fullerton’s Connor Sonderup.
Laible scored an early first-period takedown and add another one in the second to seal the win.
“I knew in that match he was going to come out firing and looking for a headlock,” Laible concluded. “I was ready for that and I set the tone from the start. That helped. It was a tough match.”
