By the time they finally found the end zone, it was too little, too late for the St. Mary's football squad.
The Cardinals were unable to get their high-powered running game going, remaining scoreless until the fourth quarter in a 41-14 loss to Blue Hill in the second round of the Class D2 playoffs.
St. Mary's could not take advantage of four Blue Hill fumbles on the day. They were kept off the board until a Josh Cuddy touchdown run gave them their first score midway through the fourth quarter. Cuddy added a four-yard touchdown pass to give the Cardinals their final score of the season.
The loss ends St. Mary's season at 8-2, a vast improvement from last year's 3-6 season.
