In the first round of the D2 state football playoffs, St. Mary's had little trouble disposing of their opponent.

The Cardinals hosted Eustis-Farnam Thursday in O'Neill, taking control from the start to race to a 54-6 victory.

St. Mary's got the scoring started early with an Andrew Thompson run and a Pete Blumenstock run for scores in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, it was more of the same as the Cardinals put up three touchdowns, all courtesy of Josh Cuddy, while only giving up one score.

On the night, Cuddy was six of eight passing for 91 yards and two scores. He also added 83 yards and three touchdowns on the ground for St. Mary's.

Blumenstock dominated on the ground as well for the Cardinals, racking up 149 yards and a score.

Zac Wiese caught five of Cuddy's six completions for two scores and 76 yards.

The Cardinals now move on to a showdown with Blue Hill next Wednesday.
