O'Neill Woman Appointed To NECC Board Of Governors

​​Carol Sibbel from O'Neill was appointed and sworn into the Northeast Community College Board of Governors during the monthly board meeting on Thursday. She is succeeding Larry Poessnecker for the District Two seat which covers all of Keya Paha, Brown, Rock, Boyd, Holt, and Knox counties; as well as part of Cedar County.

While discussing why she applied she said, "Northeast Community College’s (extended campus) has been a wonderful addition to the O’Neill community and the surrounding area. By serving as a member of the board of governors, I feel I can give back by serving our community in promoting higher education that is affordable to all students. Being from a small town, I appreciate higher education greatly and I like to see options available for all learners, regardless of where they live."

Sibbel works at Pinnacle Bank in O'Neill as a loan officer. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management with an emphasis in finance from the University of South Dakota; a bank management emphasis from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado; and a master’s of science in banking and financial services from Northern State University. 

She has been active in St. Mary’s Schools in O’Neill for the past twenty-one years. She presently serves as a member of the St. Patrick’s Parish Finance Committee and is also involved in recruitment, fundraising and development.
