The Lady Eagles of O'Neill were represented my two talented freshman at the Nebraska State Track and Field Meet at Omaha Burke Stadium last week.

Aurora Gutshall qualified as the fastest wildcard time in 100 high hurdles in the State. Gutshall ran a 16.39 in the prelims to finish 2nd in her heat and was just 1/100 of a second away from making the finals.

Mikayla Marvin continued her strong season in the pole vault by clearing a personal best 10-0 to finish in sixth place.

Coach Mike Peterson was impressed by their performance in Omaha.

"I was very proud of how these young girls competed with the "best of the best" at the State Track Meet. You never know how freshman are going to react to the big atmosphere of the meet, but both of them stepped up and competed well. Mikayla saved her best efforts for this meet and I am super proud of her. Aurora had a great season in the hurdles and she was so close to getting to the finals."
