O'Neill's game against Ord Friday night was certainly no offensive explosion, but it turned out exactly as they wanted.

The Eagles continued their hot start with a 14-0 win over the Ord Chanticleers in Ord Friday night. Scoring was at a premium, as O'Neill scored once in the first quarter and once in the third quarter, but they didn't need to score much thanks to a shutout from the defense.

That defense was led by Jake Young, who accounted for 19 total tackles on the night, including 17 solo tackles. Bryce Heiser added 10 total tackles of his own.

Offensively, the Eagles continued to show a strong run game and efficient passing game. Bailey Thompson gained 100 yards on just 18 carries, while Shayne Campbell added 82 yards on the ground. Campbell broke off one run of 53 yards.

Through the air, quarterback Alex Thramer had another strong week. He was 10 of 18 with 137 yards and both of O'Neill's touchdowns. One of those touchdowns went to Heiser on a 21 yard strike. Justin Appleby hauled in the other touchdown on one of his five receptions. He went for 72 yards on the night.

O'Neill now take their undefeated start on the road for a showdown with fellow unbeaten Boone Central/Newman Grove next Friday.

Other Holt County scores from Friday night were:

Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing tops Pender 56-14
Stuart takes down Central Valley 46-26
