Funeral Servies For Bob Dennis

Funeral Services for Bob Dennis, age 75, of O’Neill, NE will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Word of Life Christian Center in O’Neill. Rev. Jim Loutzenhiser will officiate. Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery with Military Honors by the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93. Visitation will be on Saturday one hour before the service at church. Bob passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dorothy, brother, DeWayne “Tiny” Dennis, both of O’Neill and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and sister Carol.

Robert Lee Dennis was born on June 24, 1939 to Albert and Mae (Strong) Dennis of O’Neill. He attended school in O’Neill. He served as a member of the Army National Guard for 9 ½ years. On June 1, 1969 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Burda at the United Methodist Church in Atkinson.

In his early years, Bob worked bottling pop for the Merri Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. in O’Neill. He also drove truck hauling hay for his father. He drove a U.S. Mail truck from O’Neill to Long Pine, where he would spend the day in Long Pine doing odd jobs while waiting for the mail to return to O’Neill. Bob worked for Fuller and Sons Concrete, before starting B & D Concrete, which he owned and operated for many years until his health failed and he retired in 2005.

His hobby and passion in life was radio. Bob had his own radio show called “The Rapid Robert Show”. He was involved with the local radio station KVHC, which later became KBRX. He spent many years working with KBRX at the home shows until 3 years ago, when his health declined.

Bob was a long time and very active member of the Word of Life Christian Center. He spent many years running the sound system for the church. He will be missed by all who knew him.
