A Memorial Service for Phyllis Potter, age 87, of O’Neill will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church in O’Neill with Pastor Mike Durre officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Phyllis passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in O’Neill.
Following Phyllis’s wishes, her body has been donated to science.
Phyllis Jean Potter was born on July 27, 1928 in Milford, Nebraska to Fred and Emma (Miller) McGhehey. Phyllis attended school through the eighth grade. She then returned to the help on the family farm.
Phyllis married Harry Potter in Lincoln on March 8, 1952. The couple made their home in O’Neill where Harry was a dentist.
Phyllis enjoyed bowling when she was younger, making pottery, and was a gifted painter. She and Harry also loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding dirt bikes throughout the Black Hills. Phyllis was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in O’Neill.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry Potter of O’Neill, one daughter, Judy Nicholsen and her husband, Steve of Omaha; two grandchildren, Reanna Nicholsen of New York City, Eric Nicholsen of Sioux Falls; one brother, Willis McGheney and his wife, Winnie of Seattle; one niece and several nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
