Funeral Services For Morris (Babe) LaVern Rasmussen

Morris (Babe) LaVern Rasmussen was born in Central City, NE on November 2, 1934 to Nils Edgar and Vera (Parsons) Rasmussen. He grew up in Central City attending North and South Ward Schools. Babe passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City, NE. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements.

On June 30, 1963 in Columbus, NE he was united in marriage to Kathy Rubeck. To this union, two children were born, Wendy and Steve. Babe was employed as salesman at Fairacres Dairy in Grand Island, NE and later at Wonder Bread in Columbus, Alliance, Norfolk and O'Neill, NE.

After returning to Central City, Babe owned and operated the Ace Cafe in Chapman, NE and later worked for the Central City Sewage Department. When he retired, he enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting with the shut-ins. Babe never knew a stranger! Babe received a Community Service Award from the Central City Senior Citizen Center, recognizing his work working with others through the Meals On Wheels program. He also enjoyed collecting and tinkering/restoring old cars. He also liked Indian Motorcycles. Babe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Edgar (Sonny) and sister in law Betty Rasmussen and one sister Joan and brother in law Don Glantz.

​He is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Mark) Devall of O'Neill and son Steve (Linda) Rasmussen of O'Neill, Grandchildren Morgan Devall of Lincoln, Corbin Rasmussen of Lincoln, Dylan Rasmussen of Kearney, Sarah Devall and Faith Rasmussen, both of O'Neill, One sister, Jeanne (Roger) Schroeder of Holbrook, NE, 3 Nieces and 3 Nephews. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers, NE.

Memorials may be directed to Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital Long Term Care in Central City, NE.
