Funeral Services For Kami Sholes

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kami Sholes, age 45, of O’Neill, will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill.  

Burial will be in the Inman Cemetery.  

Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 5-8 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.  

Kami passed away January 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.  

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. 

Kami Jo Davis was born in Lincoln, NE, on November 14, 1971 to Bob and Ann (Kelley) Davis. She graduated from O’Neill St. Mary’s High School in 1990 and continued on to receive an Associate Degree in Business from Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

Kami was married to Kevin Sholes on December 18, 1992; they were married for 24 years.  Together they raised four children: Makala Ann, Chase Gordon, Chism Robert, and Chance Lee.

Kami worked as the business manager and bookkeeper for Sholes Ranch and Trucking. On the ranch, she was very involved in the day to day operations which included responsibilities such as cooking, helping the hay crew, running errands, fixing fence, tending livestock, and a multitude of other aspects of ranch life.  In addition to her ranch duties, she assisted individuals with special needs through Northstar Services. 

In her younger years, Kami was a member of the National High School Rodeo Association, 4-H horse judging team, and the Boots and Saddle Club.  In high school she participated in volleyball and basketball.  Later in life, she continued to enjoy her horses, camping, supporting the O’Neill High and St. Mary’s athletic departments serving as a coach, parent, and super fan, “Mama Sholes”. She adored her grandchildren and took every opportunity to spend time with them.  

She was actively involved in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Contemporary Choir.

Kami is survived by her husband, Kevin Sholes of Inman, NE; four children, Makala Davis (Dustin Cross) of O’Neill, NE, Chase Sholes, Chism Sholes, and Chance Sholes, all of Inman, NE; two grandchildren,  Jacey and Ryker Cross; her parents, Bob and Ann Davis of Inman; one brother, Tim Davis and wife Nikki of O’Neill, NE; one sister, Amy Magnuson and husband Tom of Omaha, NE; and two nieces and two nephews.

Kami is preceded in death by all four of her grandparents, Bill and Met Kelley and Leonard and Rita Davis; and her father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Dotty Sholes.
