![]() Jerome L. “Jerry” Bauer, 72 of Ewing, NE passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Neligh Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neligh, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing, NE with Rev. John Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post #214 of Ewing, NE. Visitation will be 6:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the church, with a 6:30 p.m. wake service. Huffman-Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com Jerry was born July 26, 1945 in Ewing, NE, the youngest son of Alfred and Rose (Bohn) Bauer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He graduated from Ewing High School with the class of 1963. He enlisted in the US Army, First Calvary and after his training he left for Vietnam on Sept. 23, 1966, where he served for 13 months working on Huey and Chinook helicopters as a crew chief. He was honorably discharged in October of 1967. July 2, 1972 he was united in marriage to Deborah Fry at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. To this union two sons were born. Jerry owned and operated a service station, Jerry’s Service, in Ewing, until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and following Husker athletics. He was proceeded in death by his parents; one son: Wade; and one brother: Louis. He is survived by his wife; one son: Christopher Chad, wife Angie and grandsons: Roy Loren and Max Stephen, all of Louisburg, KS; and three sisters: Geraldine Bauer and Catherine Chapman, both of Fremont, NE and MaryAnn and husband Douglas Shrader of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.
