Funeral Services For Herman 'Tiny' Koehler

Funeral Services for Herman “Tiny” Koehler, age 73, of O’Neill, will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill.  

Burial will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the McCoy Cemetery, south of Meadow Grove, NE.  

Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018, from 5-8 P.M., at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.  

Herman passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.  

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.  Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill is in charge of arrangements.

Herman Edwin Koehler was born on August 1, 1944, in Pierce to Alfred and Emma (Reed) Koehler.  He attended Pierce Public Schools until his family moved to Norfolk in 1961.

On May 22, 1970, he married Donna Powell in Norfolk, NE, at the Christ Lutheran Church.  To this union, three children were born:  Shelly, Teresa, and Herman Jr.  Herman worked for The Chicago Northwestern Railroad, drove the Woldbaum’s egg truck for a time.  For most of his life Herman was a trucker, he drove for several trucking companies from coast to coast during his lifetime.  He also owned his own truck for a time before retiring in 2012. 

His hobbies included watching T.V., driving his red pickup, and being an avid Huskers sports fan.  Herman also enjoyed talking with people, especially on the phone.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Herman is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Koehler of O’Neill; three children, Shelly Koehler of O’Neill, Treasa Koehler Schrunk and husband, Kirk, of Lincoln, Herman Edwin “Eddy” Koehler Jr. of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren, Revel, Kedron, Zane, Zoriana, Shalaia, Zachariah, Brianna, Reed, Skylar, Piper, and Dominic; three great grandchildren,  Aubryana, Alyas, and Brailyn; two sisters, Irene Neitzke of Norfolk, Norma Kollmar and husband, Roger, of Riverbank, CA; one brother-in-law, Roy Zautke of Norfolk; two sister-in-law, Sharon Koehler of Hannibal, MO, Sharon Koehler of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Darlene Zautke, Delores Crow, Phyllis (James) Jones, Elsie (Dennis)Acklie; and three brothers, Ervin (Betty) Koehler, Clarence Koehler and Dennis Koehler.
