A Visitation for Edna Dawson, age 101, of O’Neill, will be from 5-8 P.M., Monday, April 18, 2016, at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.
Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Edna passed away Thursday night, April 14, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in O’Neill. Edna was born on October 22, 1914, in Chicago, IL, to Karl and Minna Nee (Zwettler) Milarg.
She was baptized at St. John’s Church in Chicago, IL, on December 27, 1914. Edna was married on January 6, 1935 to Merle Dawson at Crown Point, IN. They had one child, Raymond Charles Dawson.
Edna and Merle made their home in Orchard, NE, operating a tavern for years. After the death of her husband and her dear friend Wayne Hamilton, Edna moved to North park homes in O’Neill in 1988, where she lived until April of 1999, when she moved to the O’Neill Nursing Center.
Edna enjoyed being a housewife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping, and visiting with family and friends. She also enjoyed her many pets through the years, especially her beloved dogs Pepper and Taffy, watching T.V., and her sweets.
Edna is survived by her Daughter-In-Law, Virginia Dawson of Colorado, 6 Grandchildren: Della Grass and husband Dan of Page, NE, Rhonda Baldwin and husband Scott of Indiana, Jesse Dawson of Florida, Jeremy Dawson and wife Amie of O’Neill, NE, Joe Dawson of Alaska, and Laura Franke and husband Matt of Alaska, and 9 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl Milarg and Minna Nee (Zwettler) Milarg, her son Raymond Dawson, Granddaughter Leah Dawson and her 3 brothers; Harold, Ray, and Louie.
