Funeral Services for Edgar J. Boyle, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edgar J. “Sonny” Boyle, Sr., age 85, of O’Neill, will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill, with burial in the O’Neill Calvary Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93, VFW Post #926, and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 5-7 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Knights of Columbus Rosary, at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Edgar passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Pall bears will be grandsons, Jesse, Brett, and Derek Chmiel, Steven, Patrick, Montana, and Traygan Boyle.

Honorary pall bears will be Edward and Ted Pavel, Virgil Holz, Ben Schmit, Bob McClellan, Tommy Sanders, Carl Stewart, John Wyant, Mary Matthews, and Jim Matthews.

Edgar was born April 5th, 1930 to James P. & Gladys (Tackett) Boyle at Chambers, NE. He entered the Army in 1948 to 1950, and was recalled to active duty October of 1950 and discharged in October 1951. Edgar and Alice (Dunkelberger) Boyle were married August 9th, 1952 at Vermillion, SD. To this union three children were born, Edgar J. Boyle, Jr., Shirley Chmiel, and Timothy Boyle.

Edgar was an over the road truck driver for over 30 years and an owner operator for 25 of those years. He also worked for the United States Postal Service in O’Neill for 10 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with family, working livestock, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Knights of Columbus, and lifetime member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and D.A.V.

Edgar is survived by wife, Alice, of O’Neill, Edgar J. Boyle Jr. and wife Mary of Plattsmouth, Ne, Shirley Chmiel of O’Neill, and Timothy Boyle and wife Angela of O’Neill, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Gayle Boyle and wife Joanne of Herminston, OR, and brother-in-law John Bohan of Fort Collins, CO, and Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Edgar is proceeded in death by his parents James and Gladys Boyle, brothers; Jimmy, Joe Franklin, and Donald, and sisters; Shirley Mae, Marian Novak, and Patricia Bohan.

Fr. James Netusil will officiate.
