Funeral Services For Donald L. Linquist Of Page

Memorial Services for Donald L. Linquist, age 72, of Page, NE, will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Page United Methodist Church.

Military Rites will be conducted by the Page American Legion Post #315.

A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial Visitation will be Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 5-8 P.M. at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. 

Pastor Stuart Davis will officiate. Don passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, as the result of an ATV accident near Page. 

Memorials may be made to the family, and they will donate the money within the Page Community.

Donald Leland was born in O’Neill on May 24, 1945, to Nels and Elda Mae (Butterfield) Linquist. He grew up on family ranch north of Page, NE. Don attended Country School, then graduated from O’Neill Public High School in 1963. Don enlisted in the U.S. Army of 1963, and served 2 years in Korea before returning to his home on the ranch in 1965. Don met Charlotte Jones in 1966 at a dance, and the two were married March 16, 1968. To this union, 2 children were born; Don Jr and Terri.

Don and Charlotte lived and worked at the family ranch for 2 years before moving to O’Neill, where he then worked for the Department of Roads for 36 years. Don and Charlotte then moved to Page, NE, in 2005, where they have made their home for the last 12 years. Don enjoyed spending time on the family land, and was committed to leaving a legacy to his children. He acquired three longhorn cows, and the rest is history, as his children became DH Longhorn.

Don was a member of the Page United Methodist Church, American Legion, for which he received his 50 year membership pin in 2017. Don also served on the Page town board for 8 years, 4 of which he served as Chairman of the Board. Don was very involved in the Page Community, and enjoyed the many activities in Page.

Don is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte Linquist, of Page, NE; two children, Don Linquist, Jr and wife, Rachel, of Page, NE, Terri Barger and husband, Dave, of Atkinson, NE; two grandchildren, Emmy and Rebecca Barger; two sisters: Vicki Whitehill of O’Neill, NE, Bev Ritts and husband, Ed, of O’Neill, NE; four nieces; Cindy Mays and husband, Bill, of Minneapolis, MN, Cherie Bonifas and husband, Wayne, of Blue Hill, NE, Kylee Whitehill, of Pierre, SD, Brenda Curry of Richland Hills, TX; one nephew, Brad Tuch and wife, Joni, of Lincoln, NE; and sister-in-law, Pat Garner, of Papillion, NE.

​He is preceded in death by his parents, Elda Mae and Nels Linquist; one brother-in-law, Tom Whitehill; and one nephew, Bruce Ritts.

I am so sorry for your loss and sending prayers for Kylee and her family in this sad time. Kylee has told me stories about this beautiful family and it sounds like this man will be missed dearly 🙏✝️

Don and my brother Jim were great friends from their Freshman year in high school. My sympathy to Charlotte and family.
