Funeral Services For Don Novak

Funeral Services for Don Novak, age 82, will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 24, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in O’Neill. Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93 and V.F.W. Post #926. Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 5-8 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Don passed away early Monday morning, April 20, 2015, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill, NE. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Schools in O’Neill.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat, 3 children; LaDonna Novak and friend Valerie of Omaha, NE, Diane Miller and husband Scott, of Kansas City, MO, Deb Rivera and husband Ruben of Kearney, NE, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother-in-laws Lloyd Krivohlavek and Al Vacha, and sister-in-laws Carol, Kathy and Bev Vacha.

Don was born on December 1, 1932 in Schuyler, NE, to Frank and Helen (Kunneman) Novak. He graduated from Schuyler High School. On December 7, 1953, Don married Lorraine A. Vacha in Kearney, NE. He served in the U.S. Navy from October of 1951 until September of 1955. He was superintendent of the Elevator in Aurora, NE, for Dowd Grain. Don was involved in the development of irrigation systems in the O’Neill area, as well as farming.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the O’Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93, and the V.F.W. Post #926. Don is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, June.

Fr. John Bohn will officiate.
