Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Callan A Peter was born on July 2, 1943 in O’Neill, Nebraska to Harry and Cecilia Peter.  He attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated in 1962.  He worked for Wayne Fox in the hayfield before enlisting in the United States Army in 1963 where he served for two years before being honorably discharged.

Cal met Jane Muff at the Eighth-Grade graduation.  The high school sweet hearts were married on November 20, 1965 at St. John’s Catholic Church of rural Ewing.  They made their home south of O’Neill where he ranched all his life.  Cal also worked as a carpenter for several years and milked cows. He also loved to weld and made several windmill towers, calf chutes, hay cages, calf pullers, and anything else people needed.  Most of his time was spend raising cattle and putting up hay, which he thoroughly enjoyed.  In his later years, he really enjoyed using his John Deere tractors.

Cal loved sharing his memories and stories with his children, grandchildren, and friends.  He also loved to take Jane on Sunday drives.

He was a member of the O’Neill American Legion Simonsen Post 93, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Cal is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Peter of O’Neill, three sons, Michael Peter and wife, Deb, of O’Neill, Dan Peter and wife, Angie, of Plainview, Steve Peter of O’Neill; two grandchildren, Taylor Peter and Marcus Peter.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Cecilia.
