Memorial services for Betty Lou Kipple, age 88, of O’Neill, will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church in O’Neill. Rev. John Ryding will officiate. She passed away Thursday night, January 21, 2016, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Arrangements are under the direction of Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Betty Lou Kipple was born on September 8, 1927, in Atkinson, Nebraska, to Louie and Dorothy (Grothe) Prange. She grew up in Atkinson and graduated from Atkinson High School in 1945. Betty married William D. Kipple on December 19, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Atkinson. To this union, three children were born: Ken, Cherie and David.

She lived most of her married life in O’Neill, where she raised her family and was a secretary-receptionist for Gutshall Eye Care. She worked in a similar capacity at the Holt County Welfare Office. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary Simonson Post #93, both of O’Neill. For many years, she volunteered as the church secretary, and she particularly enjoyed writing and producing the weekly church bulletin. Like many of her relatives, she was an avid gardener. She planted and maintained vegetable, flower, and ornamental gardens that surrounded her home. Betty loved staying home, where she could be with her family and enjoy her garden. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Ken Kipple of O’Neill, Cherie Kipple of West Orange, New Jersey, David Kipple of Fremont, grandson Paul Kipple and wife Julie, great grandson Ford William Kipple, all of Bennington, Nebraska, and sister, Eileen Holliday of Lakeside, Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sibling, and brother-in-law, Don Holliday.

Memorials may be given to the Holt County Humane Society.
