Bertha Clare Noffke, daughter of John and Bertha (Cracher) Bauer, was born May 5, 1915 at Ewing, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter de Alcantara Catholic Church in Ewing and attended school through the eighth grade at rural School District #227 in Holt County.

On April 20, 1937, Bertha married Frank Noffke at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing. Bertha was a homemaker, raising the couple’s five children. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Church and a devoted member of St. Peter’s Christian Mothers. Eucharistic Adoration was very important to her and she devoted her Thursdays to that purpose.

She is survived by four daughters: Elizabeth “Maxine” (Eugene) Koenig of Ewing; Fran Reedy of Baton Rouge, LA; Mary (Francis) Heumesser of Gering, NE; Jan (Charles) Irwin of Pensacola, FL; two sisters: Sister Claradine Bauer of Milwaukee, WI; Vi (Bob) Snider of Redding, CA; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank Noffke; son Larry Noffke and his wife Ardis; son-in-law Bob Reedy; two grandsons: Tom Noffke and Mike Reedy; six sisters and two brothers.
