Funeral Services For Ardeen Philbrick

Funeral Services for Ardeen Marie Philbrick, age 87, of O’Neill, NE, will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in O’Neill, with burial in the O’Neill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 6-8 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill.  Rev. Gary Merritt and Pastor Randy Schmeichel will officiate.  Ardeen passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. 


Ardeen was born on November 14, 1929 in Alliance, NE, to Elbert and Florence (Gerling) Stout. She grew up in the Sandhills near Rose, NE, and graduated from Bassett High School in 1947.  She met Dwight Philbrick and they were married on December 20, 1947, at the Methodist Parsonage in Bassett, NE.  To this union, 3 children were born:  Gary, Sandra and Patsy.


She worked at the O’Neill Public School Cafeteria and was a devoted housewife and mother. Ardeen loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with and sewing quilts for them. She had many interest and hobbies including, gardening,   restoring old dolls for many children and spending time fishing. She was very proud when she caught a Master Angler Walleye that weighed 9 lb and 6 oz. She also loved to paint, and some of her paintings were displayed at the O’Neill Library. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


She is survived by her children and their spouses:  Gary Philbrick and wife Pat of Scribner, NE, Sandra Osborne and husband Tom of Atkinson, NE, Patsy Kremer and husband David of Pickstown, SD, 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Val Philbrick of Norfolk, NE. 


She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight, brother, Lavern Stout and sister, Dee Sitz.
