Celebration of Life Service for Leta L. Shelden, age 82, of Spencer, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Gary Binder will officiate.
Leta died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Born to Chester Manford and Mabel Elizabeth (Miller) Ross May 13, 1934 at Redbird Nebraska. She attended rural school at District 142 in Holt County graduating 8th grade. She was Baptized and Confirmed in May 1948. She graduated from Spencer High School in May 1951. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Northeast Community College in 1991.
She taught school at the Graham School in Holt County and in Boyd county district 77. She was employed by Attorney Murray, Butte Nursing Home, and Post office in Spencer, Bristow, and Stuart. She kept books at the Philips 66 station in Spencer.
She was married July 19, 1953 to William Earle Shelden. Five children were born to this union. LeRoy Shelden, Wayne (Teresa) (died November 2014), David (died August 1979), Linda (Robert Coenen) and Baby boy stillborn, 1964. 19 grandchildren Aaron, Andrew, Jennifer, Jeremy, Amy, Sarah (Darren), Cassandra (Troy), Amanda (Michael), Catherine, Joshua, Melissa (Joshua), Brian, Bradley (Brittney), Daniel, Andrea, Joseph, Jared, Michael and Bridget. 18great grandchildren. Taylan, Carissa, Caitlyn, Trever, Sophia, Gavin, Aiden, Presten, Malcolm, Clay, Aubrey, Adelynn, Kyle, Kaylee, Lucas, Marie, Malakye, James.
She survived by son, LeRoy, daughter Linda (Robert) Coenen, daughter-in-law Terri (Wayne) Shelden grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother Albert (Dorothy-Peoria, AZ) Sister Carolyn Colfax (Spencer), sister-in-law Pauline (John) Sheldon, Branson, CO.
She was proceeded in death by sons Wayne, David and baby boy, son-in-law Robert Coenen grandson Malcolm. Parents, parents-in-law, brother Ernest, brothers-in-law Eli Shelden, James Shelden, John Sheldon. Sisters-in-law, Marie Ross, Eleanor (Ernest) Ross and Ida Mae Shelden. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
