The Holt County Sheriff's Office is raising funds for their K-9 program, and they are asking for your help.
Marko, the office's K-9, is a 6 1/2-year-old Belgian Malinois and is trained for narcotics detection and tracking. A typical police dog is able to work until the age of 10, but the Sheriff is asking for help in getting a head start on funding the purchase of a new K-9 when the time comes. They also need help in providing for Marko's food, vet bills and training supplies. Marko has been deployed numerous times to sniff for narcotics and has assisted in locating both user and distribution amounts of different drugs and paraphernalia. Marko has also been deployed to track suspects on a few occasions. He has been a vital resource for not only Holt County, but numerous surrounding counties and the Nebraska State Patrol.
