From thunderstorms to snow storms, this month has brought some unusual weather to Nebraska in December.

Sunday, 36-hundredths of an inch of rain fell in Norfolk, which set a new 24-hour record for December 13th. Over an inch of rain fell in Omaha, and the rain caused flooding in southeast Nebraska.

Now that the rain has moved on, winter is expected to make its return in a big way this week. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for western and central Nebraska until Wednesday afternoon.

Portions of Keya Paha and Cherry counties are expected to receive five to nine inches of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Areas further south and east, like Boyd, Holt and Wheeler counties are expected to receive at least two to five inches of snow Tuesday.
