Utilizing an airplane and a helicopter, Holt County authorities are currently searching a 4- to 5- square mile area southwest of Inman tonight for a possible plane crash.
According to Terry Miles, O’Neill Fire Chief, the O’Neill Fire Department and Holt County Sheriff’s Office were called to a possible plane crash at about 8 p.m. southwest of Inman.
Miles said a resident thought he saw a plane go down and heard sounds that would indicate a crash.
“We have an airplane circling along with LifeNet from Norfolk,” he said. “The Nebraska State Patrol has been called and will send a helicopter with an infrared system.”
Miles said the search will continue until either a crash site is located or it is determined that a plane did not crash.
Currently on scene are the O’Neill Fire Department, O’Neill Police Department, Holt County Sheriff, along with the crew in the plane and helicopter.
