After hours of air and ground searching southwest of Inman overnight and this morning failed to yield any information regarding a possible downed aircraft, the entire search appears to be called off.

Holt County authorities cited information from O'Neill Fire Chief Terry Miles that stated the search is over until a report of a missing aircraft is received.

Maj. Tom Pflug, director of operations for the Nebraska Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, confirmed that his organization is not involved and stated that he has not received a request to assist with a search near Inman.

Miles said the O’Neill Fire Department and Holt County Sheriff’s Office were called to a possible plane crash on Thursday at about 8 p.m. southwest of Inman. After hours of searching with ATVs, UTVs, a plane and helicopters from both LifeNet and the Nebraska State Patrol, the ground search was called off around midnight.

Miles said a resident thought he saw a plane go down and heard sounds that would indicate a crash.
