More details have become available about the semi accident that resulted with cattle over the highway by Ewing.

According to the Holt County Sheriff's Department, a semi loaded with cattle was traveling westbound on Highway 275 when it collided with a bull on the roadway. After the collision, the driver of the semi lost control and the vehicle jackknifed. The semi crossed the center line and flipped onto it's passenger side.

An eastbound pickup was traveling along 275 and came into the path of the semi. The pickup collided with the front portion of the trailer. The driver had to be extracted using the jaws of life. Both the pickup driver and the semi driver suffered serious injuries.

A second pickup was also involved after it collided with a cow that had wandered away from the wreckage and on to the highway. The driver was not injured.

The Ewing and O'Neill Fire and Rescue, Holt County Sheriff's Department, and the Nebraska State Patrol assisted at the scene. All vehicles were declared a total loss.
