Veteran coach John Miller reached a major milestone Friday night as he coached his 700th victory on the basketball court.

Miller, who spent 30 years at Chambers High School and has a career record of 700-140, led Stamford-Southern Valley to a 41-29 win over Broken Bow.

His son, Seth, led the Eagles with 12 points. The Stamford-Southern Valley boys basketball team is now 12-1 and has won 34 straight home games.

Miller - the son of Gerald and Lois Miller - graduated from Elgin High School in 1975 and later from Kearney State College.

At Chambers, Miller never had a losing girls basketball season and won five 12 conference titles. His teams captured five state championships and were runner-up four times.

At Stamford-Southern Valley, Miller has three state appearances and one runner-up finish.

Miller also coached football while at Chambers, leading the Coyotes to the championship in 2007.
