Starting this Sunday colorful tires will appear in yards of area residents - and it's not liter.
It is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Holt County. Why the lifesaver candy colored tires? The West Holt Medical Services Relay for Life Team, the West Holt Lifesavers, is bringing their lifesaver theme to life with a “This House is TIREd of Cancer” fundraiser. Five colorful tires will go from yard to yard daily for two weeks. You may be wondering what you do when the tires land in your yard. Call or text one of the numbers listed on the envelope hung on your door and donate one of the following amounts. $10 to have the tires taken away with no guarantee that the tires won’t return $20 to have the tires taken away and given to a friend of your choice Or purchase $30.00 Tire Insurance. This option will ensure the tires do not return to your yard this year. If you do not want the tires to appear in your yard at all, you are in luck. You may pay the $30 tire insurance in advance. Residents are asked to call or text Candy Keogh at 402-340- 4100 or Cindy Kubik at 402-340-0049 to purchase tire insurance. West Holt Lifesavers committee member Candy Keogh said, “We hope this is a fun fundraiser for the community and that it helps fund the American Cancer Society’s mission to find a cure for cancer. Cancer has touched almost everybody in some way or another.” The annual Relay for Life of Holt County event is scheduled for Saturday, June 18 in O’Neill, Nebraska.
