The Atkinson Community Foundation Fund (ACFF) is happy to announce it is nearing its $50,000 fundraising goal for a new playground at the city-owned Mill Race Park in Atkinson. To date, ACFF has raised $45,000.

To help the ACFF’s Fundraising Committee slide to the $50,000 finish line, they are hosting a special free-will Community BBQ on Friday, June 19 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m at the City Park. Special guest and 2001 Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch will be in attendance to meet community members and will be available for autographs for a nominal fee.

Not only is Crouch special due to his football career as quarterback at Nebraska, but he is also the owner of Crouch Recreation which is the company the ACFF’s Fundraising Committee chose to purchase the playground equipment from. Crouch will donate all autograph fees to the ACFF.

Monique Johnson, Vice President of the ACFF shares, “We want to thank each and every person that has contributed to the new playground. In early 2014, the committee received a $7,000 donation from the Ben Troshynski family to kick-off this special playground project and many more community members and fans of Atkinson have followed suit. Again, we are reminded that we live in a very generous and caring community.”

The ACFF invites the community to join them at the Community BBQ June 19 to help make Atkinson a better place to live, work and play. If you are unable to attend the BBQ, you can send a donation to: Atkinson Community Foundation Fund, PO Box 595, Atkinson, NE 68713 or donate online at www.goatkinson.com.
