In a matchup of top D1 teams, the West Holt Huskies were unable to show the consistency needed to keep up with the Creighton Bulldogs, falling 56-14.

The Huskies got the scoring going early, scoring on a fumble return touchdown less than five minutes into the game. However, Creighton would counter with a score of their own less than a minute later. They would score one more time in the first quarter to take a lead they would not relinquish.

The Huskies were held scoreless in the second and third quarter. They looked to have finally broken through with a long run by quarterback Bryce Kerkman. However, he fumbled the ball as he was crossing the goal line and it bounced out of bounds for a touchback and a turnover.

In the fourth, an athletic run by Kerkman set up a short Breydon Mlady touchdown run for the final Husky touchdown.

The Huskies were unable to stop the combination of Creighton’s quarterback Ryan Neumann and running back Bryce Zimmerer, who combined for nearly 500 yards of total offense on the day.

Kerkman led the way for West Holt, gathering 80 yards on the ground from his quarterback spot.

The Huskies now look to regroup as they prepare to take their 2-1 record into a matchup with Boyd County next week.
