As he has done most of the season, Mason Hale led the West Holt Huskies. This time, he led them at state.
Hale, a sophomore, shot a second round 75 to earn a spot as the solo medalist or the Huskies, finishing fifth.
"It's a big accomplishment as a sophomore," Hale said. "But I also know that I only have two more years left to win it all."
Fellow sophomore Bryce Kerkman shot a second round 83 to tie for 30th. Juniors Seth Hytrek and Theodore Stenka finished tied for 52nd and 59th, respectively. Hytrek shot a second round 95, while Stenka charged up the board with a second round 89. Rounding out the golfers for the Huskies was senior Austyn Ramm-Lech, who tied for 73rd with a second round 95.
As a team, the Huskies finished seventh with a team score of 682 for the two days. With the team only losing one senior, the team looks to build on a successful 2016 campaign next season.
"Team wise, we are a little disappointed in where we placed," Hale said. "We are ready for next year."
