West Holt Medical Services Foundation has awarded the West Holt Medical Services Diagnostic Imaging Department with a donation made possible by multiple donors.
This donation assisted the diagnostic imaging department to add a component to the current ultrasound equipment used to perform ankle brachial index exams.
This ultrasound exam is a noninvasive exam performed to evaluate blood flow throughout the legs.
A series of blood pressure cuffs are applied to the limbs to obtain pressures. The study is also used to evaluate the arteries that supply blood flow to the feet.
West Holt Medical Services Sonographer, Kellyn Olberding, shares “Healthcare providers order this type of exam to look for narrowing of the arteries due to plaque build-up and also for blockage due to plaque.”
