After a dominant performance in the area tournament, Atkinson entered the Class C State Tournament confident they had a shot at the championship. Unfortunately, those hopes were cut short early as they were unable to get the bats going.
In the opening game of the tournament, Atkinson squared off with Sutton. After three innings, Sutton held a slim 4-3 lead before sealing the game with a run in the top of the seventh to win 5-3. The Atkinson defense had four errors in the game, helping Sutton score five runs on just four hits. Devon Dohrman took the loss for Atkinson. Offensively, Kooper Jelinek led the way for Atkinson, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The loss dropped Atkinson to the loser's bracket against the Cross County S.O.S. Rebels. Cross County jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first, and never took their foot of the gas. The Rebels took a 7-0 lead before Atkinson was able to plate it's first run of the day in the top of the fifth. The Rebels went on to win 8-2, ending Atkinson's season. Bryce Kerkman took the loss on the mound. At the plate, Breydon Mlady contributed 3 hits and scored a run for Atkinson.
