Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing is on the way to a third-straight state quarterfinals appearance.
This time, the Renegades locked up a spot with a 27-7 victory over Kenesaw.
CWCE jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first quarter before taking a 14-7 lead into the half. The Renegades then used a stout defensive effort to blank the Blue Devils in the second half en route to the win.
That defensive effort was led by a big day from Trevor Klabenes. The senior posted 17 total tackles, including two sacks. Ross Gribble and Daniel Libolt added 15 tackles each, with Gribble also hauling in an interception with just six seconds to go to seal the game. Ethan Naughtin added 11 more tackles for the Renegades.
Offensively, quarterback Carter Croxen had a big game, going 5-of-10 for 115 yards and two touchdowns. His targets were Naughtin with two catches for 87 yards, Gribble with two catches for 11 yards and Libolt with one grab for 27 yards.
The run game was effective once again for the Renegades, led by Libolt's 115 yards on 20 carries. Gribble added another 60 yards for CWCE.
The Renegades will now take on South Loup. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Callaway on Tuesday, November 7.
