Northeast Community College Extended Campus Offers Area High School Students Alternative Learning Opportunities
The Northeast Community College Extended Campus located on the South side of O’Neill offers many fantastic opportunities to students interested in taking classes through Northeast. No matter the age of the student, the opportunities are endless, with an advanced state of the art science lab and amazing classrooms with long distance learning technology. Students at both St. Mary’s and O’Neill Public Schools are receiving many of the opportunities by taking classes through Northeast and through the extended campus.
Merri Schneider, Extended Campus Director, is very excited about the new campus. She talks about the new state of the art science labs and technical facilities, saying, “We will have the ability to have welding classes and will have 8 welding booths.” Schneider is glad the students will being able get more real world experience in this field area.
Student Allison Ludwig, who attends class at the new extended campus, said, “I really enjoy the opportunities that the new campus presents for students in high school like me.”
Schneider is also very confident that admission for the second semester will rise once the word is out.
The facilities within the campus are very professional. The classrooms have long distance learning capabilities as well, which is very helpful for students taking classes through the Northeast campus in Norfolk. When one walks through the building, it feels like a place of knowledge with a high tech computer lab and relaxing student lounge where students are always working.
The Northeast Community College extended campus has become a major new addition to the town of O’Neill, and will hopefully help and improve many people’s academics around the area.
