The Nebraska School Activities Association overturned an earlier disqualification on Judge from this past weekend's district meet. Judge was initially disqualified from the meet and subsequently the state tournament when he allegedly bit his opponent during the championship match at 145 pounds at the D2 tournament. According to statement by West Holt superintendent Paul Pistulka, the West Holt administration appealed the situation to the NSAA in hopes that they would understand the circumstances of the situation and reinstate Jake Judge to be able to wrestle in the NSAA State Wrestling Championships. On Monday, Dr. Jim Tenopir and the NSAA decided to reinstate Judge for the 2017 State Wrestling Championships. According to Pistulka's statement on the school's website, West Holt considers the issue solved and would like all fans to move on in a positive manner to make the 2017 State Wrestling Championships as awesome an experience as possible for their team. Pistulka added that it is an expectation of the school and the administration that all interactions and cheers directed toward Nebraska Christian and Jaydon Elge be positive in nature. Judge will take the mat on Thursday along with the other West Holt qualifiers starting at 9:30 a.m. in Omaha. The girls of West Holt are the top seed in next week's C2-6 subdistrict tournament.
They await the winner of Neligh-Oakdale and Niobrara/Verdigre. The Huskies will take on the winner on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at O'Neill High School. |
