Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW):
This course provides the student with a technical understanding of arc, welding, welding safety, power sources, electrode classification and selection. Welding will be done in all positions on mild steel carbon material, single and multiple pass, using mild steel, low hydrogen and iron power electrodes with DC current. Depending on ability of student groove welds may also be performed as time permits. Course also provides understanding of oxyacetylene cutting as well as safety practices in cutting. Supplies needed are: helmet, welding cap, clear safety glasses, pliers, welding coat or leathers, cutting goggles, and SMAW gloves. Chipping hammers and wire brushes are optional.

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student's name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division.
