Alexa Dougherty, a member of the O’Neill FFA chapter in O’Neill, NE will be on stage and in the spotlight Oct. 19-23 during the 2016 National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, IN.
Dougherty, a senior and the daughter of Andy and Tina, has been selected to play French Horn in the National FFA Band.
Dougherty submitted an audition tape and was selected to help bring full instrumental balance to the band from a pool of applicants nationwide.
The National FFA Band will perform several times during the national convention and expo.
Dougherty will join fellow band members in Indianapolis for rehearsals three days before the convention and expo begins.
The National FFA Band is sponsored by Dow Agrosciences as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth, and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7, 757 local chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rica, and the Virgin Islands.
This is the second member of the OHS Band to make this National Honor Band. In 2015, Corbin Dean made it on Baritone. Sydney Zahm also auditioned, but competition on flute was extremely high.
