Funeral Services for Florence Anderson, age 89, of O’Neill will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the O’Neill Assembly of God Church, with burial in the O’Neill Cemetery.
Pastor Mike Durre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Florence passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill.
Florence Mildred Walters was born on January 15, 1927, in O’Neill, NE, to Henry and Mildred (Rouse) Walters. She attended country school and later graduated high school from Lynch in 1944. Florence received her teaching certificate from Wayne Normal College. She taught country school in the Red Bird Area.
Florence married Merlin Anderson on her family farm north of O’Neill, on August 4, 1952. They moved to their current farm in 1968. She later worked for the Holt County Assessor for a couple of years.
Florence was a member of Assembly of God Church and was church treasurer for 36 years, Women’s Ministry. She served on the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Board, and the Padock Ladies Aid. Her hobbies were mowing the lawn, gardening, riding 4-wheelers, crosswords and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Florence is survived by her husband of 64 years, Merlin Anderson of O’Neill; two daughters, Deb (Jim) Frederick and Nancy (Greg) Buis all of O’Neill; five grandchildren, Justin (Jen) Hilkemeier, Lindsay (Matthew) Metschke, Jeremy (Kami) Hilkemeier, Ryan (Samantha) Frederick and Brent (Jemi) Frederick; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Allen Walters Sr. of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters; LaVone Johring of O’Neill, Arlene (Gene) Libby of North Platte, NE and Jeanie (Stan) Davis of Buena Park, CA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Walters; a brother-in-law, Ben Johring;, and a sister-in-law, Connie Walters.
