Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin the week of April 25 on N-11, starting 8 miles north of Atkinson and extending 14.6 miles north to the Brush Creek Bridge, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Vontz Paving, Inc., of Hastings, Nebraska, is the prime contractor for the $5,062,149 project.
Work will include grading and erosion control, drainage structure installation, milling and asphaltic concrete overlay on the roadway, minor bridge repairs and application of epoxy overlay and sealant on the Brush Creek Bridge.
During construction, there will be a12-foot width limit. One-lane traffic will be controlled over the Brush Creek Bridge using temporary traffic signals, while traffic elsewhere on N-11 will be controlled using flaggers and a pilot car.
The highway improvement project is anticipated to be completed in late September.
The Department of Roads' project engineer is H. Gene Colfack of O'Neill.
Motorists are urged to use caution while driving through highway work zones and to remember that speeding fines are doubled when workers are present.
