logan@pitzerdigital.com In a game that was not lacking in offense, Atkinson proved to have the better bats Thursday, taking down Neligh Junior Legion 17-13. Atkinson was led at the plate by Bryce Kerkman as he went 4 for 4 in the game with a walk, including two triples and three runs. Shayden Neptune also put in a full day's work, going 3 for 4 with two walks and scoring four times. Blake Hilkemeier added three hits, while Breydon Mlady and Payton Williams added two hits each. Atkinson added six runs in the fifth inning alone to pull away from Neligh. Kerkman got the start on the mound as well, going the distance and showing good control until late in the game where he hit two straight batters to began a Neligh rally that ultimately fell short. He had two strikeouts and Atkinson used solid defense to get the win. |
